| LAWRENCEBURG HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM VENUE |
The challenges of the room
are, there is zero electric, nothing to tap into. We run extension cords from
everywhere. We manage to get the amps powered but there’s no way to run any additional
lighting.
The audience is made up of
people 60 years old and up. Anything over mid 90db and you’re looking at a melt
down. A band that runs a bunch of hot wedges on stage won’t need to put any
thing but a little highs out front. The best mix in the room was The Letterman.
They used no on stage amps and had wireless ears. No stage volume at all. It
was a great mix. Most engineers that do this show have been in this scenario
before and adapt. I’m not writing this to scare ya, more prepare ya.
We do get a great sound in
the room and have for 15 years. You’ll have a great appreciative crowd. Every
seat in the house will hear the vocals crystal clear. On the subs, Believe it
or not but a 2x15 will do the room. I’ll bring quite a bit more than that so
you’re not worried about low end but the room makes it’s own.
Lighting: the students at
the school are the load in help and the lighting techs. They have a decent spot
and a bunch of stage wash that I’ve tried to picture above. We’ve never hazed
the room as a result. Bottom line on the lights – there’s no flash and trash
but there is a great wash.
